Radix tackles a lot of challenging puzzles. The result is always a customized and highly specific product. "It's added value that our customers cannot get elsewhere."
The Vanguard of Luminex Technology
GEORGETOWN, TX — Radix BioSolutions mission is to effectively enable the scientific community to implement xMAP® Technology to more efficiently attain their research and commercial goals. The company honors this commitment by developing quality laboratory solutions customized to meet customers' needs. This requires a market approach and customer interaction that is intimate and proactive. Vice President of Business Development and Marketing Erik Miller comments: "We put our customer first."
Radix BioSolutions was formed in 2001. Among the company's clientele are large pharmaceutical companies in the US and Europe, but also governmental parties such as the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), National Institutes of Health (NIH), and the National Cancer Institute. These customers are often in the need of a partner that can turn their specific expectations with the Luminex Technology into practical lab solutions. "Our customers often have applications that differ from the norm," says Miller. "We provide them with high quality, customized lab solutions. Radix has a unique capability to manage all of their specific and detailed needs."
Everything Radix does is custom, from development to production. Miller notes: "At Radix we focus on a solution that is designed precisely for our customers. Most of the time, they are doing something completely novel. Armed with our solutions, our customers are at the forefront of xMAP® Technology applications."
To the benefit of customers
In order to meet all of their customer's requirements, Radix's processes remain flexible. This gives the customers confidence in the process. "First, we gather the product requirements and the customer agrees to the specifications before we start. We then develop the solution and confer with the customer on pinpointed decision moments. In this way, we engage the customer in the process and create routine interactions." Explains Miller.
The projects move forward very quickly and ultimately deliver a customer-specific product that meets the defined needs. "It's an added value that our customer's cannot get elsewhere. For example; We have a pharmaceutical customer who wants to run a six-plex cytokine assay. Three of these assays are commercially available. We determined the reagents for the three extra assays and we combined them with the commercial ones. We actually used assays from different vendors. We continually demonstrate that Radix operates to the benefit of customers, Luminex, and also the rest of the partner base. We don't look at the other Luminex partners as competition; they are our partners," boasts Miller.
Radix tackles a lot of challenging puzzles but also has a lot of fun, says Miller. "Radix is a very efficient Luminex-focused laboratory. Half of the employees have a Ph.D. degree. The others are scientists with expertise on the Luminex platform. There are only two of us not directly at the lab bench. That also shows how customer and technology-focussed we are."
Next level
According to Miller Luminex fills a niche in the world of science. And Radix takes it to the next level. "Luminex operates in a very functional and pragmatic section of medicine. A focused set of markers are validated that may allow a clinician to get their arms around a complex problem. Basic research, by its nature, is often very new and novel. New assays and challenges need to be successfully engaged. Also, since there is this multitude of data points in a small sample, there is a lot of need to manage that amount of information. And that's where we come into the picture. Radix is considered to be the vanguard of the technology. And that, of course, is a big compliment to our scientists."
Radix is present at Planet xMAP to create awareness of its capabilities in the European market. "We absolutely believe that there is a need for someone like Radix in the European market. Apart from that, it is always interesting to so see what other people and partners are doing so that we can clearly visualize the forefront of Luminex Technology."
