Radix Management
Radix BioSolutions Management
The Radix BioSolutions management team is composed of experienced scientists, business and operations talent. They are backed by a dedicated group of individuals, principally scientists by training, who are focused on applying the groundbreaking multiplexing capabilities of xMAP technology to enhance the research capabilities of Radix BioSolutions customers.
The Radix BioSolutions Team is led by:
Kerry Oliver, Ph.D. — President
Dr. Oliver received his Ph.D. in immunology from UT Southwestern in Dallas under the direction of Dr. Ellen Vitetta. After postdoctoral training at the NIH in pharmacology, Kerry spent three years in drug discovery at Pfizer in the immunology group. In the spring 1997, Kerry joined the R&D biology group at Luminex, and in late 2001 he started Radix BioSolutions which immediately became a Luminex partner that focuses on satisfying unmet customer needs with custom molecular and immunoassay development and manufacturing.
Christy Weiss — Vice President, Operations
Christy received her degree in Biology and Chemistry from West Texas A&M in Canyon Texas. She began work as a technician at Inland Laboratories. As Luminex was developing out of Inland Laboratories, Christy became one of the earliest Luminex employees. During her tenure with Luminex, Christy performed many roles. She established the customer support department, developed training classes for Luminex end users and provided software and documentation review for all Luminex product launches. In 2001, along with her business partners, Christy opened the doors to Radix BioSolutions in order to better meet the custom assay needs of Luminex customers. At Radix BioSolutions Christy is focused on providing custom solutions with superior service.
Kodumudi Venkateswaran — Vice President, Research and Business Development
Venkat leads our biothreat and infectious disease development efforts, among others. Dr. Venkateswaran's research interests include advanced detection of biothreat agents, technology development for drug discovery, and molecular and personalized medicine. He worked at University of California Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL), for 8 years and was the Advanced Diagnostics Group Leader at LLNL. His research projects at LLNL included biodetection instrumentation, advanced diagnostic methods design, development and validation. He pioneered the multiplex biothreat test development and participated in a number of government projects in the evaluation of various biodetection technologies. He constantly serves as a reviewer for the National Institutes of Health. He has more than 30 scientific publications and 8 patents (US and International). He won a number of awards for his scientific contributions including "R & D 100 Award". He was invited speaker in a number of national and international conferences.
Dr. John R. Kettman Jr., Ph.D.— Board of Directors
Dr. Kettman received his undergraduate degree in biochemistry at the University of California, Berkeley, and completed his Ph. D. at Oregon State University under the advisory of TE King. He completed his postdoctoral work in immunochemistry with E. Benjamini and immunobiology with RW Dutton. He was a member of the Basel Institute for Immunology 1972-1973 and spent twenty eight years as on the faculty of the Microbiology Department at University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, Texas. He currently serves as a Professor Emeritus in the Department of Immunology, at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School at Dallas. Jack was a co-founder of Luminex Corporation and former member of Board of Directors (1995) and a partner and member of board of Directors, Radix BioSolutions, Georgetown TX. He is author or co-author of over one hundred publications in reviewed scientific Journals. He is also the author of Jack’s Bead Talk (www.jacksbeadtalk.com).
R. Jerrold Fulton, Ph.D. — Board of Directors
R. Jerrold Fulton, Ph.D. received his B.A. in biology at The University of Texas at Austin in 1975 and went on to earn his Ph.D. in immunology at Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas, Texas, 1980 under the advisor, David Hart, Ph.D. His postdoctoral work in immunochemistry and molecular biology was completed at Washington University in St. Louis, MO in the laboratories of Joseph Davies, M.D., Ph.D. and Henry Huang, Ph.D. He served five years on the faculty of the Department of Microbiology at Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. He is a co-founder of Luminex Corporation, member of the Board of Directors, and Vice President for Research. He is also a co-founder, partner, and Member of the Board of Directors of Radix Biosolutions, and has written a number of scientific publications.
